Here's how it could've gone down better:
- Clark makes hella bank by stealing stuff outta the Backrooms and selling it in his
store. He puts the competition out of business. He becomes so wealthy that his
wife comes back to him.
- Clark turns the Backrooms into an amusement park. One of the signs says, "You must be this tall
to enter the ride", but the height limit is too tall, so only the monster can go on that ride.
- Clark convinces the monster to team up with him. They hit the quad. They
dominate, as one would expect. The monster eventually gets noticed by a recruiter and
joins the NBA, leaving Clark behind. Clark is alone again.
- Clark takes all of the VHS tapes and floppy disks out of the backpack and
he sells them at the pawnshop on the corner. This covers his rent for the month.
- Phil buys furniture at Clark's furniture store. The furniture breaks. Phil repairs it
with Flex Tape :^)
- Clark gets his hand and leg gnawed off by the monster. He replaces them with a real-life
hook and pegleg, respectively. He commits to the bit and becomes an actual pirate.
- Mary brings her MP5 with her into the Backrooms. She slays the monster easy-peasy.
Her MMR goes up, and she finally climbs out of silver.
- Mary jumps in the giant dark pit and gets dropped straight into
FRAUD /// THIRD
- Clark tries to domesticate the monster. The rest of the plot just devolves
into the "Romance Bigfoot" path from Dialtown: Phone Dating Sim.
- The pothead college kid doesn't die because he instead passes his blunt to the monster.
Turns out the monster is pretty chill and just so happens to be
into the same sorta kinks as the college kid.
College kid cheats on his girlfriend and lives with
the monster instead. The girlfriend is alone and depressed that her BF left her. She goes
to Mary for help. Mary doesn't help her because she's still a hack. Rinse and repeat.
- Clark sets the Backrooms on fire as a prank. The fire spreads and eventually reaches the
Async research facility. This inevitably kills Phil. Clark does not get convicted for
manslaughter.
- Clark opens a diner inside the Backrooms. All of his dishes secretly incorporate
people jelly. A food critic finds out and it becomes a scandal, a lá
Soylent Green.
- Mary opens one of the doors and she winds up in Jerry Seinfeld's apartment. It turns
out that the monster is actually Cosmo Kramer.
Mary eats the pretzels and
dies of thirst.
- Clark pulls a bottle of Liquid Pain out of his fridge and drinks it. He then explodes
into gibs.
- Clark invests in solar panels and accumulators.
He puts them all in the Backrooms. He uses this to reduce his exorbitant electric bill.
Clark calls the electrician back again, just to flex on him.
- Mary tries to drive her car into the Backrooms, but she ends up on Highway 35.
- An earthquake hits (they are in California, after all). The basement of Clark's
furniture store collapses. Nobody can get to the Backrooms anymore. Roll credits.
